• Piedra del Peñol

  Also known as Peñón de Guatapé, this 220m/722 feet high monolith takes 740 steps to reach its summit. The stone has become the main tourist attraction of the area, as the view from the top allows you to enjoy the lush beauty of one of the most important hydroelectric energy sources of Colombia where 70% of the electric power in the country is generated. The hydroelectric power plant was built after the flooding of 2.262 hectares of land that were previously part of the town El Peñol, which was completely submerged and then rebuilt in the surrounding land.

• Guatapé

  Episodes never to be forgotten parade through the walls of the houses adorned with large baseboards that tell stories of the town and its people: the religious fervor, the farmers, the first settlers. • Ruinas de la Finca La Manuela

  If there was someone who could draw the undivided attention of Pablo Escobar was her daughter Manuela, born in Panama in 1984. So great was his love for her that he bought an immense estate (nearly 68000mt2/ 16 acres of land) in Guatapé and called it "La Manuela". This estate became one of Escobar's favorite places to spend time with his family. It is currently half in ruins, weeds and undergrowth took over the gardens as well as some of the buildings. Even today it is still possible to see the traces of the war against his enemies "Los Pepes" (persecuted by Pablo Escobar), in the half blown-up main room of one of the 8 houses that make up the estate. The room is located on the second floor and it is said that it was the room Escobar used. The explosion destroyed it, as well as the vast pool that was on the first floor, now in ruins. The estate, in the opinion of the inhabitants of the area, has one of the best overlooks of the dam; in addition to two giant tunnels that connect the houses, a swimming pool, stables, a pier, a tennis court, a soccer field and a BMX track. In spite of being in ruins, the property is currently valued at more than 5 billion pesos. It is possible to visit the place and do a tour of its facilities to have a closer look of its history. In addition, we can schedule a paintball battle for your group in the ruins, which will make this visit an quite an experience.
